Profile
David Wood is a mechanical engineer with bachelor's and master's degrees from Sydney University, and a PhD in Aeronautics from the University of London. Dr. Wood was an academic at Newcastle University until 2004 where he mainly researched wind turbine aerodynamics. Prior to joining the University of Calgary in February 2010, as NSERC/ENMAX Industrial Research Chair in Renewable Energy, he was part-owner and technical director of Aerogenesis Australia, a company commercializing the small wind turbine technology. His combined academic-industry perspective has proven extremely valuable to balance short-term needs for information with the longer-term nature of basic research. His book Small Wind Turbines was published by Springer in 2011.
